‘Doctor Who’ Season 10 Premiere: 4 Reasons to Be Excited

It seems that ‘Doctor Who’ has just finished an amazing season. Oh, and wasn’t it absolutely glorious? From the wonderful character portrayed by Maisie Williams to the scene-stealing performance by the Mistress herself, Michelle Gomez, the whole thing was amazing. We might even forgive the showrunners for a certain death of the Dr. Who companion that happened near the end. Season 9 has also introduced several amazing new features that the youngest viewers might find entertaining, like the sonic sunglasses and playing air guitar in TARDIS all alone.

So, what Doctor Who news should the fans get excited about now?

• Release date

There is no certain release date for the ‘Doctor Who’ Season 10 premiere yet. Usually, the first episode was shown in September, but it might get pushed later because of the schedule. The shooting has just wrapped up in Spain and moved on to Wales as usual. Meanwhile, the official social accounts of the show keep delighting the fans with pictures from locations and charming tidbits from cast and crew.

• The showrunner and the star

No one knows what will happen after the end of season 10, but, for now, the beloved and notorious Steven Moffat is still at the helm and so is the longtime Whovian and marvelous actor Peter Capaldi. The current team will pass the show to the new producer Chris Chibnall who you might have heard of due to ‘Broadchurch’ where he worked with Doctor number ten Mr. David Tennant.

• Academy Award episode

Sadly, that does not mean that ‘Doctor Who’ will be nominated for an Oscar. However, Peter Jackson, famous for his ‘Lord of the Rings’ and ‘Hobbit’ trilogies, will direct an episode and probably bring some star power with him.

• Bill

The recently revealed new Dr. Who companion, Bill, is quite a departure from the traditional dynamic between the Doctor and his pretty friends. After all, Moffat has mentioned in an interview that they were looking for a different dynamic when casting. Pearl Mackie says that she is very excited to take on the role and join the franchise.

Here are the things that we are excited about while awaiting the new season of ‘Doctor Who.’ And whatever the show is going to surprise us with next, it will certainly be fantastic.
